Brooklyn Coffee

Who says you can’t drink beer for breakfast?

This Beer-Type logo is inspired by Skillet Donut Stout by Burial Beer Company. I went back and forth between naming this an Oatmeal Stout or a Chocolate Milk Stout, but in the end decided “breakfast” was the way to go. Have you ever tried Skillet Donut Stout? It’s bold and complex—and delicious! And just an FYI, this is in no way, shape or form a rip from any of Brooklyn Brewery beers. (They are quite good themselves, and I’m interested in trying their Intensified Coffee Porter!) But rather a play on the name of the font.

No doubt, Brooklyn took it.

I’ve had my eye on the Brooklyn Coffee font ever since I purchased an Indie Font Bundle from Envato. It’s a great hand-lettered font and I love the little protrusions in the middle of each letter. Makes for a personalized feel, don’t you think? I don’t remember visiting Brooklyn per se, but I’ve been to Manhattan and was in fact born on Long Island. And much to my wife’s chagrin, this southern boy still claims to be from New York from time to time even though I’ve lived most of my life in NC.

Beer in the morning, beer in the evening.

I don’t condone drinking in the morning, but like a nephew of mine once said—and mind you he was only about 13 when he said this—”how can you say you’ve been drinking all day if you don’t start in the morning?” He’s wise beyond his years, let me tell ya!

Have you ever consumed beer from a coffee mug? Well, um, err, I have. And even if you haven’t, get ahold of a smooth and rich breakfast stout from your local bottle shop and enjoy it any time of day! If you want to see a good list, check out this article on 27 essential coffee beers. Cheers!
